Meet Dr. Teja
“It is a privilege and joy to work in a profession that has such a positive impact on people's lives.” – Dr. Zeeny Teja
Dr. Teja has been creating beautiful smiles since 1992. A native of Nairobi, Kenya, she has lived in Seattle for over 20 years. At the age of 16, she went to England to pursue higher education, which was not available at an acceptable standard in Kenya. The value of a good education was instilled in her by her father and, with his emotional and financial support, she went on to earn a dental degree (B.D.S.) and Master's degree in Pediatric Dentistry (M.Sc.) from The London University. Dr. Teja was the first dentist to provide patient care at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi in 1986. From 1987, she completed a two-year residency at Seattle Children's Hospital. She went on to earn an Orthodontic degree from the University of Washington (M.S.D.) in 1991.
Dr. Teja stays on the cutting edge of the latest advancements in orthodontics by pursuing continuing education and attending orthodontic conferences in the United States and abroad. She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the British Orthodontic Society, the Washington State Dental Association, and the Seattle King County Dental Society. She has served as the President of the Washington Association of Women Dentists and as an officer for the Washington State Society of Orthodontists. Dr. Teja is currently an Invisalign® Preferred Provider.
In her spare time, Dr. Teja enjoys volunteering. She has assisted with fundraising auctions organized by the AKDN (to relieve poverty, empower education for girls, and to improve quality of life in the third world), tutored pupils at a local Queen Anne School every week, sponsored Little League teams, and supported fund-raising activities for the local schools, Successful Schools in Action and other charitable organizations.
With her advancing experience in orthodontics, she has been blessed with great joy in inspiring some of her patients to pursue orthodontics as a career.
